In 1973, the National Government through a Special Law creates the Army’s Direction of Industries, DINE; an organism with the faculty to conform, promote and administrate business unities.

DINE, following the new special law formed companies of mixed economy and later anonymous companies, one of them the HOLDINGDINE S.A.

The HOLDINGDINE S.A. is an industrial and commercial corporation, head office of a Managerial Group bonded to the manufacture (ACERIAS NACIONALES DEL ECUADOR S.A ANDEC, COMPLEJO FABRIL FAME S.A, EXPLOCEN C.A., F.M.S.B SANTA BARBARA S.A and ENERGYHDINE C.A.), service (SEPRIV CIA. LTDA., DINMOB C.A. and LOGISTICHDINE S.A.) and agro industry sectors (DINEAGRO’S S.A., PROTEAS DEL ECUADOR S.A. and AYCHAPICHO AGRO’S S.A.).

None of these companies have Government subvention or have any assignation in the state’s budget. On the opposite, the economical outcomes that the HOLDINGDINE S.A companies generate important values are assigned to the Terrestrial Force budget and to the Social Security Institution of the Army.

The Managerial Group acts in the industrial and commercial ambit, competing in equal conditions with other organizations of the private sector; follows with responsibility the established juridical rules, specially, in the Law of Companies, Work Code and Internal Tributary Regime Law. Additionally it is under the supervision of the Superintendence of Companies and the Estate’s General Controller.

The Company’s Social Responsibility, also called Corporative Social Responsibility, is the active and voluntary contribution of the companies to better the society; the economy and the environment with the objective of become more competitive and add value to the company.

The social responsibility is a strategic tool of the managerial gestation that has as and objective to serve the society with quality. In Ecuador, the HOLDINGDINE S.A. and its companies work in base to corporate principles y values of: commitment and institutional loyalty, honesty and integrity, professional ethics, creativity and initiative, team work, orientation to results, social and environmental responsibility, leadership and company’s innovation.

The social responsibility is for the Corporation a Philosophy and an Attitude that has been applied and transmitted since its creation through an alignment process and organizational synchronization.

The HOLDINGDINE S.A. works to align all the companies of the Group towards superior objectives such as taking care of the environment, industrial security, work with the community and investigate, without discarding the ethical aspects and the intrinsically transparency of the gestation.

In the environmental area supervise the emissions, measure the particles, analysis the residual water, deposit of solid residues, fumigation, elaboration of Environment Impact Studies, planning of actions that preserve the health of the workers, manage the reforestation programs, among other actions, to monitor and preview social and environmental impacts.

In the Industrial Security, coaches in security administration, health and job environment to the workers, with the objective of preventing accidents and illnesses that the workers are exposed to

In the community work educates young people for free in basic informatics, develops programs of “Foment of the micro-company”, and promotes sports as an alternative of integration among companies and the society. Provides the community in general technical and nutritious assistance and availability of installations in risky situations.

The HOLDINGDINE S.A. incorporated to its managerial list the Fundacion Virgen de la Merced, to continue sharing with the kids and special teenagers, the opportunity to have an education and special rehab, of quality, with the purpose of making real their re-insertion in the society, family and jobs when the conditions permit it, all this marked by the respect of their rights.

The Fundacion Virgen de la Merced develops programs of support such as: give away orthopedic prosthesis, wheel chairs, audition aid, orthopedic, medicines, economical aid for medical treatments and surgical attention to persons with chronicle and terminal illnesses; through the Institute of Special Education and Rehabilitation provides pedagogic workshops, pediatric attention, dentistry, psychology, psycho rehabilitation, early stimulation, occupational, physical and language therapies, hypo therapy, electrotherapy, and special children with severe incapacity and high risk care, among other services.

The corporation aligned with the “Millennium Development Objectives of the UN” primordially the “eradicate extreme poverty and hunger, better the maternal health and guarantee the sustainability of the environment” one, develops the transformation of plant residues into vegetal protein pilot project, for the human alimentation.

As part of the corporative social responsibility, the HOLDINGDINE S.A. administrate the Managerial Group in function of the transparency commitment with the society, democracy and corporative citizenship1, meaning, the companies through its human resource are willing to respond the necessities of the society, with respect, loyalty, honesty, because all related practices fulfill a good administration.

With no doubt this way of administrating and managing companies enclose a conjunction of practices, strategies and gestation systems that search to contribute the social and economical development of the country.

CONTRIBUTION TO THE SOCIAL AND ECONOMICAL DEVELOPMENT OF THE COUNTRY

The HOLDINGDINE S.A. and its companies since their creation have contributed to the creation of jobs and opportune payment of taxes to the Ecuadorian Government.

In the year 2000 hired approximately 1000 persons. In the year 2001 created employment for 1429 Ecuadorians  and until the year 2006 created 1648 job sources.

In the year 2007, 2176 persons are providing services to the Corporation, from which 96% are civilians; meanwhile 4% are specialized military that mostly support productive areas of F.M.S.B SANTA BARBARA S.A.

The Managerial Group also generates jobs in an indirect way to many Ecuadorian families, trough the hiring of services for complementary activities

APORTES AL ESTADO

In the case of Rent Taxes caused by the Managerial Group this has grown since the year 2000. The initial tribute went from 3 085 000 dollars, number that until last year duplicated to 6 420 000 dollars.

The presence of the Managerial Group also contributes to the operation, development and life of the Army, therefore to the Ecuadorian Government, because the resources generated by the HOLDINGDINE S.A. companies collaborate significantly to the budget of the Terrestrial Force (60%); to the Army’s Social Security Institute (10%); to the industrial re-investment, investment of the companies and patrimonial capitalization (30%).
